Building Bridges to People

Preschool & Children

Special Opportunities

Vision: We seek to partner with parents to provide a Bible-based family ministry that will nurture and build a spiritual foundation which leads children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Throughout the year, we offer many age-appropriate opportunities to help our young people to grow in Christ through both fun and serious activities, programs and events. Through Sunday School, Awana, Childrens' Choirs, Vacation Bible School, summer camp, pre-teen retreats, mission education and much, much more, our kids have the chance to learn and put into practice the foundations of a strong, life-long faith.

For our youngest children, we offer a fully-staffed and well-equipped nursery, carefully staffed for the safety and well-being of your little one.

Our Preschool and Children's Ministry Team is led by Rev. Charles Sylvest.A schedule of weekly activities and nursery hours can be found with our Schedule of Services.

Children's Church

Each Sunday, during the 8:30 contemporary service, "Mrs. Cathy" and her helpers stand at the front of the church as seemingly dozens of children rush forward to join her for Children's Church. This special service includes praise and worship and activities JUST for the preschool set. Mrs. Cathy welcomes parents if their child is a bit shy (but most return in just a few minutes). Children's Church is for ages Kindergarten to 3. Older children in worship are provided an activity book for work if needed.

Sunday School

Our children's Sunday School meets during the same hour as our adult Bridge Groups. In age-graded classrooms, toddlers through 6th graders learn about God's word through the Bible. Our dedicated volunteer teachers ensure that each class is both focused and fun, using study, crafts, song, drama and more to teach faith at a level each child can understand.

AWANA

Held on Wednesday evenings during the school year, Awana teaches children the valuable and timeless truths of scripture in a fun and exciting way. It's like a weekly mini Vacation Bible School!
Larger group meetings allow for recreation, music and praise time, and special activities, while small groups meet with Handbook leaders to learn scripture.

Our program meets from 6:00 PM to 7:35 PM and is divided into 4 age groups:
  • Puggles (age 2)
  • Cubbies (ages 3-4)
  • Sparks (K - 2nd grade)
  • Truth & Training (3rd - 6th grade)

Children's Choirs - Kid's Connection

Music is a big part of worship at FBC and our children are part of the reason! Two children's choirs, the Tiny Tones (ages 3-5) and the Crusader Choir (grades 1-6) perform several times each year and are always a big hit! Also a perennial favorite is the Children's Handbell Choir, open to those with music reading skills. In rotation with choir, older children also expience puppets, disciplieship, recreation, art, etc. Tiny Tones is directed by Heather and James Talley while Gigi Hankins, Melissa Easley, Twyla Nelson, Tammy Bacon, and Joy Willis help guide the Crusader Choir.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer, our children head off to exotic destinations in search of fun, excitement and a deeper relationship with God. And they never leave the FBC campus! Vacation Bible School is a highlight in our children's year, with themes from life on the ranch to the undersea world. Our staff of dedicated volunteer teachers go the extra mile to put together an outstanding experience for our youngsters and each year sees multiple decisions made for Christ.

Our calendar contains information about special events especially for our kids! Check back often for news about exciting and fun events.
